Co-operative housing Ireland and its member, Cloughjordan Co-housing, will participate in a conference bringing together people with an interest or involvement in co-operative housing, co-living projects, community land trusts, community development, planning, green building and social finance.

Co-operative Housing Ireland publishes annual report for 2016

More than 70 representatives from the eleven member socities of Co-operative Housing Ireland attended an Annual General Meeting in Cork to hear the association's results for the year 2016.  The report highlights successes that include the delivery 191 new homes across the country and the creation of a new co-operative for the Connacht region.

It is with regret that we announce that Jane Mullins has resigned, for personal reasons, from the Board of Co-operative Housing Ireland.  The Board has thanked Jane for her service as a Board member and more recently as Chairperson.  Her long contribution to co-operative housing generally was also acknowledged.  The Board wishes Jane well in all her future endeavours.

Following on from ‘Housing Ourselves Co-operatively’ held in October 2015 and a Co-Housing Salon hosted in October 2016 Cultivate co-operative are hosting a conference to bring together people with an interest or involvement in co-operative housing, co-living projects, community land trusts, community development, planning, green building and social finance to look at how we can make a community-led approach to housing a reality.

CoopStarter is a starting point for young entrepreneurs setting up cooperative start-ups, providing information on the cooperative model, a step-by-step guide to setting up a cooperative and a list of local support points across Europe, including Co-operative Housing Ireland. Success stories from cooperatives in different sectors and EU countries are also outlined to inspire and encourage European youth to explore the cooperative model for their businesses.

The Society of Co-operative Studies in Ireland and Co-operative Housing Ireland hosted a one-day seminar bringing together groups from across Ireland who are meeting their own housing needs through direct development.  Speakers from Community Land Scotland and the UK federation of housing co-operatives spoke about some of the ways that communities there have succeeded in delivering new affordable housing projects.
