What We Want to See in Budget 2026

Co-operative Housing Ireland has set out the key measures we believe should be included in Budget 2026 to strengthen the Approved Housing Body (AHB) sector.

We are calling for action to support AHB debt and gearing, reduce the cost of delivering new homes, enable new models of community-led housing, strengthen stability through streamlined systems and safety nets, address legacy scheme funding deficits, expand retrofitting supports, and reform the MUD Act.

Together with our Housing Alliance partners, AHBs already manage more than 50,000 homes nationwide. With the right decisions in Budget 2026, the sector can continue delivering new homes while maintaining and improving the homes already in place.
