CHI Book Club

March 7, 2022

Member Grace O’Reilly from Gorey, Co. Wexford discusses how our new CHI Book Club found their first read.

CHI’s Engagement Manager Anthony Burrowes set up the Book Club earlier this year, where a group of CHI Members nationwide have joined forces. After introductions were made through Bookclubz.com, a website that supports the management of book clubs, we suggested some books that we would be interested in reading.

Our first group poll voted for Anne Griffin’s book ‘When All is Said’, an extremely well-written book dealing with the various joys, challenges and heartbreak that life can throw at people. We finally got to meet each other by Zoom on 6th April 2021, with our first official meeting. A relaxed and friendly chat about the book was had, where we answered some book club questions, which Anthony had prepared, giving our individual feedback and opinions . I will chair the next book club meeting, where we will discuss our second poll-voted book, ‘A Ghost in the Throat’ by Doireann Ní Ghríofa. We can’t wait to start reading and discussing this book.
