To mark International Women’s Day, CHI was delighted to host a number of events to celebrate with its Members and staff. Our online activities focused on this year’s theme of ‘Women in Leadership’. Thank you to everyone who supported and participated. We look forward to celebrating with you again next year.

Here are some of the highlights.

8th March – Coffee Morning

We enjoyed raising a cup with staff and members alike to launch International Women’s Day. The morning allowed space for free-flowing conversation and a time to take a step back and celebrate the female leaders in our lives and communities.

9th March – Conversations with Dr. Katriona O’Sullivan

We were pleased to have Dr. Katriona O’Sullivan share her experiences with us as part of our ‘Conversations with…’ event. At 15, Katriona was expecting her first child and living in a squat. She overcame many obstacles to become a lecturer and researcher in psychology. Katriona reflected on her experiences of education, isolation and social exclusion with us and discussed the importance of a safe and secure home as a jumping off point in life. 10th March – Yoga Session

A huge thank you to Eike from Purely Yoga for hosting a yoga session with our Members and helping us tune into our bodies. The session was also open to the public and served as a space for relaxation and reflection.

11th March – Members’ Quiz

We were delighted to host a quiz for Members on 11th March, the theme focused on women and their achievements in history.

12th March – Members’ Movie Screening

We hosted an online movie screening of Hidden Figures especially for our Members. Hidden Figures is the incredible untold story of Katherine G. Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe)—brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit.
