New Co-operative Housing Ireland Homes Officially Opened in Tramore
Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage James Browne TD visited Strand Hill in Crobally Upper, Tramore, on Friday, 7 November 2025, as part of a series of official housing launches across Waterford.
The Minister was joined by Minister of State for Local Government and Planning John Cummins TD, Minister of State for Mental Health and Older People Mary Butler TD, representatives from Waterford City and County Council, project partners, and new member tenants to officially open the latest phase of this high-quality housing development.
Delivered by Co-operative Housing Ireland in partnership with Waterford City and County Council and the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, the second phase of Strand Hill comprises 14 A-rated apartments, combining modern design with energy efficiency, affordability and long-term comfort.
In total, the Strand Hill development provides 25 new homes, including a mix of seven one-bed apartments, 13 two-bed homes and five three-bed houses. The project was delivered under the Department’s Capital Advance Leasing Facility (CALF) scheme and makes a significant contribution to meeting local housing demand in the Tramore area.
Co-operative Housing Ireland was represented at the event by Padraic Clancy, Director of New Development, and Danny Whelan, National Operations Manager.
Speaking at the launch, Padraic Clancy said:
“Co-operative Housing Ireland is proud to deliver these new homes in partnership with Waterford City and County Council and the Department of Housing. We’re ready to build on this success and deliver more homes for communities across Waterford, ensuring people can live well, affordably and securely in the place they call home.”
Minister Browne said the developments are “a prime example of how my Department and this Government are delivering tailored housing solutions to meet diverse needs” and that “boosting housing supply isn’t just about quantity - it’s about making sure every community gets the homes it needs.”
Waterford City and County Council highlighted that collaboration with Approved Housing Bodies such as Co-operative Housing Ireland remains central to achieving the county’s Housing for All targets and ensuring the delivery of sustainable, high-quality homes across Waterford.
