Co-operative Housing Ireland delivered 918 new social homes in 2025, enabling more than 900 households to move into permanent, secure homes within a single year - the highest annual delivery in the organisation’s history.

For the households involved, the delivery marked the end of prolonged periods of housing uncertainty and the beginning of long-term stability. The homes were delivered in partnership with local authorities across Ireland as part of the Government’s Housing for All plan.

The 2025 delivery brings the total number of homes delivered by Co-operative Housing Ireland to 6,708 nationwide, providing secure homes to more than 17,000 people across urban and regional communities.

Brian, a civil servant who moved into a new Co-operative Housing Ireland home at Brookfield Heights in Kilmainham during 2025, described the difference having a permanent home has made to his daily life.

“I slept better that first night than I had in years. Just knowing I had my own place made all the difference,” he said.

“It’s freedom in small things — making breakfast when you want, cooking your own dinner, knowing you’ll still be here tomorrow.”

Kieron Brennan, CEO of Co-operative Housing Ireland, said:

“Behind every completed home is a household moving out of uncertainty and into long-term security. Completing 918 homes in one year reflects sustained delivery across the country and close collaboration with local authorities. Most importantly, it means thousands of people now have a stable place to call home.”

Further social housing schemes remain under construction nationwide, with additional completions planned as part of ongoing delivery under Housing for All.
