Co-operative Housing in Focus: Highlights from ISHF 2025

In the last year, Co-operative Housing Ireland has developed and launched close to 200 affordable homes in Co. Kerry, and plan to add to this with further developments this year, some of which are already underway.

Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council, Cllr PJ Ryan, launched 31 BER A3-rated homes, provided by Co-operative Housing Ireland, in Gleann Cora, Newmarket-on-Fergus, Co. Clare on Tuesday 12th October 2021.

Co-operative Housing Ireland (CHI) welcomed the publication of Housing for All – A New Housing Plan for Ireland – the government’s housing plan to 2030 yesterday.

Co-operative Housing Ireland was delighted to launch Inbhear na Sionna, an estate of 47 two storey houses and apartments delivered by CHI in partnership with Clare County Council in response to the housing need in the area.

Minister of State for Local Government and Planning, Peter Burke, and Cathaoirleach of Kildare, Cllr Naoise Ó Cearúil today launched Co-operative Housing Ireland’s 2020 Annual Report. The organisation delivered a record number of 454 homes last year despite the challenge of the pandemic.

The Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) forecasts that housing output for this year will be 18,000 – similar to 2018 – far short of targets but understandable due to the impact of Covid-19. Voices including the ESRI and Davy Stockbrokers, quoted by Eoin Burke-Kennedy in The Irish Times, are suggesting radical levels of housing output.
